MICRODERMABRASION

FACE & NECK

Microdermabrasion utilizes inert microcrystals, which are propelled at high speeds across the skin’s surface to abrade the skin tissue. The resulting dead cells and debris are vacuumed from the skin’s surface; leaving you with soft, smooth healthier and more youthful looking skin*.

*Individual results may vary.

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion treatments use a minimally abrasive instrument to gently sand your skin, removing the thicker and uneven outer layer.

This type of skin rejuvenation is used to treat light scarring, discoloration, sun damage and stretch marks.

Microdermabrasion helps to thicken your collagen, which results in a younger looking complexion. Collagen is a protein in your skin which is abundant when you're a child and makes skin appear taut and smooth. Collagen production declines as we age, resulting in looser, uneven skin.

It is recommended to begin with a series of 6 sessions to achieve optimal results, followed by individual treatments for quick maintenance.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is a non-surgical treatment that gently exfoliates the skin’s surface, unveiling fresher, healthier, and more youthful-looking skin.

What happens during Microdermabrasion?

Our aesthetician uses a handheld device that gently removes the top layer of skin. You may feel a sanding sensation, but this is not painful. It takes about 15 minutes to treat the entire face and about 5 minutes to treat the neck. After the treatment, a moisturizer and SPF is applied.

When will I see results from Microdermabrasion?

Most patients need a series of treatments to see results. Patients are seen every 2-3 weeks. After a series of treatments, patients usually say they have smoother skin and a more-radiant complexion.

How long do results from Microdermabrasion last?

The results tend to be temporary. Patients who protect their skin from the sun and follow the recommended skin-care plan will maintain their results for a longer time. Yet, no matter what we do, our skin continues to age. Follow-up treatments are usually necessary to help retain smoother skin and a more radiant complexion.

Is there any downtime or side effects with Microdermabrasion?

You will not have downtime or a recovery period. Some patients’ skin turns pink or red. The skin can swell a bit. In some cases, you may be peeling slightly. These side effects are similar to having a sunburn or windburn for a day or two. During this time, some patients feel uncomfortable returning to work or being in public.

What should I do before and after Microdermabrasion?

Before treatment, it’s best to avoid using any harsh skincare products. After the treatment, clients should follow a gentle skincare routine and use sunscreen to protect the treated skin.

How often should I get Microdermabrasion?

It is recommended to start with a series of 6, and be seen in our clinic every 2 weeks. If you have sensitive skin, we recommend every 3-4 weeks.

Can I wear makeup immediately after the treatment?

We recommend waiting 24 hours before applying makeup to allow the skin to heal from the treatment. Putting makeup on too early might clog up your pores and run the risk of getting acne.
